This week we had our final Pack meeting of the year and our Den Advancements! Congratulations to all scouts and we hope everyone has a great summer!
The scouts had a fantastic time at River Rats family camp this past weekend!
River Rats is a family camp put on by the Potawatomi Area Council at Camp Long Lake, just north of Dundee, WI. Saturday was a day of fun and games where the scouts built fires, shot bows and arrows, bb guns, played field games, learned to make rope, hiked, and a myriad of other things.
Our pack participated in this year's city wide Earth day cleanup of Waukesha parks. We cleaned up the Fox River Sanctuary collecting almost 50 pounds of trash!
The Lion and Tiger dens kicked off Spring with a great day of fishing. All of the kids had fun learning to cast on what turned out to be a beautiful day. It was right at the end, but we even pulled in a fish.
Our April Pack meeting saw Pack 30's first scout box derby where the scouts decorated and then raced their box cars taking time for pit stops, refueling and tire swapping.
Scouting for Food is a chance for our Pack to reach out to the community to help fill the Waukesha food Pantry. This year, our scouts collected almost 800 lbs of food for the Waukesha Food Pantry. Food levels are usually pretty low this time of year, and this is a much needed service. We had a great turn out of scouts both days and great weather!
On March 12th we celebrated the birthday of the Scouting movement in the United States and the anniversary of our Pack at our annual Blue & Gold Banquet. We had the privilege to recognize those leaders that make Pack 30 great. This year our dinner was catered by Keith Weller and Zilli Hospitality Group and it was a wonderful dinner. Thank you Keith! We also want to thank Troop 5 for welcoming four new scouts to their ranks as they crossed over. We are so proud of them!
Pack 30 kicked off its new hiking club last weekend with a 2 mile hike at Minooka Park. Despite the cold we had pretty good weather and a great turnout. Thank you to everyone who participated in this hike and to all the parents and families that joined us. Hiking sticks will be awarded to all scouts once they reach a cumulative goal of 5 hiking miles and decorations will be added to each walking stick for reaching milestones after that.
