Tiger Den Schedule
Wow what a busy den meeting! Tigers joined the Lions to earn our technology adventures. We explored the entire school looking for examples of technology and our parents even showed us some of the technology they used when they were younger. In addition to our technology adventure we also worked on our outdoor adventures by sorting animals into wild and domestic and learning about trees as we worked on our leaf rubbing art project.
What an amazing day bowling we had! Great job to everyone as we learned the rules of the game, practiced good sportsmanship, waiting our turn and just had a great time!
Welcome to our new Tigers this year! We had a fun bonfire and got lots of playground time in. I could hear our tigers saying the scout oath and law louder than any of the big kids and was so proud! Great job Tigers
This hike looked so Fun! Glad everyone could make it and help us find all of the scare crows.
Today was a day of games, so many games! We learned how to play checkers, then modified our rules and played more. We practiced some bowling for our bowling outing in a couple of weeks, we learned rules for new games we could play by ourselves and games to play with friends!
Always a favorite at Swamp Fox, those who were able to make it this year learned about the safety of an archery range, the proper use of a bow and arrow and then had a great time honing their skills on the range. Thank you for all of your help, Cubmaster Mike!
This Year at Swamp Fox Family Camp our group of sharp shooters braved the weather and made us proud! Earning their BB Gun adventure and bringing home targets as proof of the bulls eyes was one of the highlights of Swamp Fox this year!
Welcome New Tiger Families and Welcome Back!
The Lions joined the Tigers at the first den meeting of the year to work on the first steps of understanding what it means to be a cub scout. We played with Lego puzzles to learn about the Scout Oath and Law, we demonstrated principles of the Scout Law by leading each other blindfolded through a maze, we played a game to show that we knew the scout sign, handshake and salute and we talked about doing our best, the Cub Scout motto!. We also learned about the fundamental cub scout principal of Conservation by taking used materials and making bird feeders out of them! Our Tigers were all such good helpers.
What fun weather we had for our August Fishing trip! We alternated between crazy rain, bright sun and rainbows while we watched the minnows take our worms. The kids baited their own hooks this time and knew exactly what types of fish they caught (when we did catch them). We went home and drew a picture of the little blue gill and we definitely have some good memories! Thank you troop 13G for going fishing with us.
We gathered our six cub scout essentials and did some urban hiking up and down the Fox River in downtown Waukesha. We met a lot of ducks and their new families, a lot of geese and had a lot of fun! We splashed in some puddles, scoped out two different playgrounds and took care of our buddies!
What an amazing day at the beach! We spent 4 hours playing in the sand and building a slightly smaller than life model of the great lakes in the sand. It was a good thing the food truck came. We had a great showing from three different dens and everyone had an amazing time. We finished up with a short hike together.
The Pack summer camp was a lot of fun! We worked on a few different adventures, launched rockets, roasted marshmallows and helped our parents set up tents. There was a lot of hiking, a lot of very tired parents and a lot of flashlight tag!
While at Richard Bong State Recreation Area we checked out the beach to learn all about floating and sinking. We found so many natural things around the beach and in the field that float and a few that sink too! We talked about why they sink and why they float and then we talked about how to make the sinking things float!
Working together we found a bunch of sticks and tied them together with grass and then our rocks floated on top! While at the Beach we also checked out all of the different types of boats that were out there, how they move and made sure our life jackets fit us.
Thank you to the girl scouts for inviting our den to scout night at the water park! We had a great time going down the giant water slides, playing basketball, standing under the waterfall, balancing over the lily pads and being silly in the lazy river! What a great way to kick off Summer.
The Tiger den and friends got together to review our basic camping skills, including several relay races to pick out what we would pack for a camping trip, how to be safe in the woods. We also got out the telescope and binoculars to check out the moon. Finally, we got ready for our pack camping trip by building our rockets.
Thank you so much Troop 13G for teaching us about fire safety and teaching us to use flint and steel and matches to start our own fires. We learned some neat tricks to start fires in all kinds of weather and how to properly build fires for several different uses. We even learned how to put out fires properly.
Tigers put on boots, hats and coats, gathered their six essentials and learned that just because its a little cool and wet out we can still have a nice time. The park was almost empty and we saw a lot of animals and many fallen trees. We talked about 'Leave no trace', staying on the trail, making smart decisions about puddles and choosing dry socks and boots over big splashes (at least until the end).
Congratulations to our newest Tiger Cubs! We are so proud of all of you and are looking forward to a fun summer and 1st Grade Year. We have events and meetings planned throughout the summer so please join us for anything that you can.
Lion Den finished out our Lion scouting year with a fun day of bicycle safety and riding! Everyone worked together to help each other learn how to be safe and how to ride bikes. Some of us were new to riding without training wheels and some of us were still just getting going, but we all rode together and we all had fun!
The Lion scouts got ready for the River Rats camping trip tonight, learning how to tie square knots, set up a tent, work with a buddy, be safe around fires and pack our own bags for camping! We have a lot of upcoming camping trips and the scouts are very excited and now very prepared!
The Lion den welcomed a new friend today and spent the entire den meeting creating and running obstacle courses on all of the playgrounds. We tried parts of the playground that were scary and did our best! It was so much fun that everyone was sad to leave.
The kindergarten Lion den had a great showing in this year's city-wide park clean up to celebrate Earth Day! We collected almost 50 lbs of trash and even met a few small animals who were very happy to have the trash out of their habitats!
The Lion and Tiger dens kicked off Spring with a great day of fishing. All of the kids had fun learning to cast on what turned out to be a beautiful day. It was right at the end, but we even pulled in a fish.
Today we had our first hike as a Den. We walked 2.4 miles along the fox river and through the parks and woods. We even had energy at the end to play at the playground!
Thank you so much to the Tiger den for inviting us along to see the fire station and fire trucks! We all had a great time.
We had a great turnout as a den for Scouting For Food this year. These guys walked a total of three miles putting out fliers in the community and had a great time. As a Pack we collected over 800 lbs of food for the local food pantry!
Today we learned about all of the things we can do all by ourselves now that we are big kids. We decorated our new cub scout bags and now we can carry our handbook and other scout items ourselves! We also learned about all of the things we can do to get ready for our day in the morning and get ready for bed at night and made ourselves a checklist to follow every day! We got some of our energy out by having shoe races where we practiced taking our own shoes on and off. Some of our scouts even showed us how to tie our shoes.
We will be having a bike riding den meeting once the weather is better so we also learned about the rules that will keep us safe when we are on our bikes!
