Council Family Camps

The following information is for the 2018 camping year.

Intro to Family Camp

  • We will be attending Council Family Camps as a Pack.
  • There are at least three weekends offered for each family camp, and our Pack has first choice of the same weekend we had the previous year.
  • The Potawatomi Area Council offers two family camps for Cub Scouts: River Rats (held in the Spring) and Swamp Fox (held in the Fall).
  • You can sign up for either or both.
  • We will need at least one adult per scout family, however you can bring as many members of your family as you would like.
  • This is a FUN weekend camp (3 days, 2 nights) with all meals included.
  • There are great activities that you cannot do anywhere else, like archery and BB gun shooting.
  • These camps happen in early spring or early fall, so please dress appropriately and have rain gear in case we get some "liquid sunshine".
  • Our Pack is responsible for one of the events that we will be rotating to. Some years this has been a game like Ultimate Frisbee. Some years it's fire building. We will cover our activity with the participants the night you arrive.

Cost for River Rats Family Camp (2018)

  • Early Registration fees are $50 per adult/sibling and $50 per cub.
  • Early registration ends March 30th, 2018.
  • Pack Deadline for registration is Nov. 9th, 2017.
  • $15 deposit is required for registration. (Checks to Pack 30)
  • Regular fee is $55 per adult/sibling and $55 per cub.
  • Fees paid after April 13th, 2018 (5:00pm) will have to be cleared for available space and a late charge of $5 will be added per person.
  • Sign up early because once the 250 participant limit is reached, the weekend will close.

General Information about River Rats

  • We typically sign up for the first weekend, May 4th - 6th, 2018.
  • We will be in the Hawk Ridge camp site.
  • We are responsible for an outdoor activity/game.
  • Participants will receive more information closer to the event as to the details of our responsibilities at camp.
  • You will want to participate in this camp as it is a great introduction to camping and the activities are a lot of fun.

Cost for Swamp Fox Family Camp (2018)

  • Early Registration fees are $45 per adult/sibling and $50 per cub.
  • Early registration ends June 1st, 2018.
  • Pack Deadline for registration is Apr. 3rd, 2018.
  • $15 deposit is required for registration. (Checks to Pack 30)
  • Regular fee is $50 per adult/sibling and $55 per cub.
  • Fees paid after August 11th, 2017 will have to be cleared for available space and a late charge of $10 will be added per person. You will also not receive a T-shirt.
  • Sign up early because once the 250 participant limit is reached, the weekend will close.

General Information about Swamp Fox

  • We signed up for the third weekend, Sept. 28th - 30th, 2018.
  • We will be in the Wolf Paw camp site.
  • We are responsible for an activity, but haven't chosen it yet.
  • You will want to participate in this camp as it is a great introduction to camping and the activities are a lot of fun.

Parent Action Items

  • Applications and $15/person deposit due before registration deadline.
  • Remaining registration fee due before early bird deadline to get the early bird rate.
  • You can pay the pack if it's before the early bird deadline. If after, please pay in full at the Council Office.
