Aug. Pack Event - Rocket Launch

posted Aug 5, 2016, 11:00 AM by Matt Wagner   [ updated Aug 5, 2016, 11:30 AM ]
This year, the BSA is celebrating it's Blast Off into Scouting program. For Pack 30's August summertime event, Scouts will be building and launching film canister rockets. We will try varying amounts of water and Alka-Seltzer tablets to see what works best to launch. Scouts will also be invited to create a scale model of the solar system to try and map out distances of planets. This activity counts toward the STEM Nova/Supernova award as well as a summertime activity. Please RSVP through Scoutbook, or to Matt Wagner so we can make sure we have enough supplies.

Please meet at Buchner Park in Waukesha around 10:30am on Saturday, August 27th. Please have your scout wear their Activity uniform (a Scout related T-shirt) and comfortable clothes.

We will meet even if it's raining, however if there is lightning or heavy storms, we may postpone the activity to another day.

For those of you looking for more fun with film canister rockets, check out this from Jimmy Kimmel's show.
