On Saturday, August 27th at 10:30am, we’ll be meeting at Buchner Park (near the Volleyball Courts) to perform a One Foot Hike. For those not familiar with these, each scout will be tasked with finding a 1 square foot area to examine with their eyes and/or magnifying glass (if they bring one), and try to find some of the things that often go unnoticed when we walk through nature. We’ll spend 5-7 minutes examining a section, mapping what we saw, and writing down as many different things we can find. We’ll then spend a little time listening to nature and trying to determine what the different sounds are we hear. What to bring:
These kind of activities can take 30-45 minutes, depending on how interested the scouts are. When we’re done, feel free to stop by the playground on the north end of the park. This can be a fun activity to invite a friend to as well. I hope to see you there. |
