Friends of Scouting

posted Mar 29, 2016, 10:36 AM by Matt Wagner
First off, I'd like to thank Arne Landsverk for coming out to our Blue & Gold dinner in March to present the Friends of Scouting campaign drive. As Arne mentioned, our Council offers great programs for our Scouts through summer camps, family camps, Winter Blast, and many more activities for Boy Scouts through merit badge clinics and youth training programs. This is all done on a budget of under $2 million ($1,910,881 to be exact). Only part of that can be covered through our Fall product sales. The Friends of Scouting campaign helps offset some of the remaining costs so that our Council can continue to offer these great opportunities for the over 7,000 youth in our council, at a reasonable price.

Scouting has always provided the youth of our area opportunities that they would not be able to find in other organizations or on their own. Scouting also gives back to our local communities through service hours and projects. We can all agree that scouting is a beneficial organization for both our youth and communities.
Let's talk specifics. The 'Fair Share' goal for our pack is $75 per scout, which brings us to a total of $3000 for our Pack.

Individual donations of $165 or more will get you a limited edition 2016 Camp Long Lake shoulder patch.
You can always find more information on our Council website, or view that great video Arne presented here.

If you didn't have an opportunity to fill out a pledge card at the meeting, please do so online, here. Also, please see if your company provides a donation match to help increase that pledge.
